Last month, I wanted to take all new photographs of our house. That didn’t happen because we decided to sell most of our furniture instead.
I’ve mentioned a few times that the style from room to room in our house isn’t all that cohesive. A lot of our furniture was left over from our last house, which was an updated 60s split level. Our contemporary and mid-century modern furniture fit perfectly there…that particular mix wasn’t so good in our Victorian.
Most of what is pictured here is currently for sale on Craigslist.
Including the sofa. In fact, everything but the ottoman and rug (it’s new–this is the first, you’ve seen it) is for sale. The dining room is full too:
Much of what’s going is storage furniture that we simply don’t need because we don’t have all the junk that needs to be stored anymore (the dressers, buffet, file cabinets, wardrobes…). The rest just isn’t the style that we want for the house.
About half of it is spoken for already, but we’re having trouble finding buyers for the rest. Any tips on how to get things sold quickly on Craigslist?
We’re going to use the money to put towards a few pieces of furniture that we’ve always wanted. No more buying furniture just because it fits and it’s inexpensive.

I cant believe how much you are getting rid of and I think you are amazing doing this. No point keeping things you don’t care for. I would love to do the same but I’m unable to do such drastic moves. I’m removing stuff or replacing them much slower and it (mainly) suits us.

In my experience/friends’ experiences furniture just doesn’t sell on Craigslist because there’s just so much on there.
Do you live in a high-traffic area?
I’ve gotten more sales by putting pieces in the yard with a sign on them on a sunny day.

Thanks Anita! We’re not sure what happened, but everything suddenly started selling. We’re down to just a couple items now. If they don’t go soon, we’ll probably try the curb, thanks for the suggestion.
