We had a problem. The entrance to the kitchen was blocked with doggie stuff. Food and water bowls that would often get kicked and spilled all over. Then there was the issue of it being healthier and more comfortable for him to not eat off the floor. Of course, what was just as irritating was that it was ugly.
But we fixed it!
I was planning on hacking our old Lack coffee table to make Roscoe Buddy a dining table, but I really wanted something rounded so we didn’t trade off tripping over the bowls to kicking over a whole table. We were at IKEA for another reason and saw their computer desk risers. I can’t find them on their website, or I’d post a link. But they sell that piece of wood that’s in the above picture, and legs to attach to the bottom of it. Here are the legs:
The legs cost $14. We picked up the table top, but when we got to As-Is, there was the exact same one for $3. Score! We cut the some of the depth off the back end of the table so it didn’t stick out so far, screwed on the legs and Doggy Dog had his very own dining table. For $16.
Now, if you wanted to try this yourself, and you, like us, have a dog that dribbles and splashes more water than he actually drinks, I recommend sealing the table first. Otherwise, you’ll end up with this:
Which you then have to prime.
And paint.
And seal. And finally, put it back in it’s spot 24 hours later.
It was a quick, cheap and easy project, a vast improvement over the rug on the floor. And the boy tells me he likes it much better too.
This is an adorable project.
