I picked up fabrics today from the craft store for the Little Colonial, so I can finally pick my wall colors. With some of the fabrics, I made some little tiny rugs this afternoon.
This one needs some edging, but I might trim it down first to a rectangle, not sure yet. It reminds me of this real rug.
The little throw rug:
I made it with the bathroom in mind, but I didn’t like the scale next to the vanity, so it will go in the kitchen. It’s just a little woven piece of fabric I trimmed to size and pulled out the outer threads to give it fringes.
And my favorite so far, pretty sure it will go in the master bedroom:
Update because it was super cute:
Obviously, one piece of fabric will make A LOT of 1/12 scale rugs, so I kept making different sizes and shapes of the gold floral one above. Several were added to my Etsy shop, and I was excited to sell one right away for a couple dollars (way under-priced by the way, don’t ever sell something that cheap on Etsy–I was a newbie). A couple weeks later, I got a note from the lady who purchased, a little embarrassed, who laughed and said she loved the rug, but thought it was a real, human-sized rug when she purchased and wondered how on earth someone could make a rug for so cheap.
Moral of the story: read descriptions carefully before purchasing. 😀

I’m looking at this from my phone, and I can’t tell what’s full-sized and what’s not. This is so fantastic, and I’m enjoying watching it all come together. So much that I think I’ll be bummed when you’re done, and I’ll take up a collection to get you another empty, unfurnished dollhouse. 😉
