Remember the fabric wrapped hangers I made? Well, they have been replaced.
As I’ve mentioned before, when you have fewer things, it makes it easier to splurge on making those fewer items higher quality. So, because of this (and another reason I’ll be sharing soon), I splurged on wooden hangers. You wouldn’t believe the difference it makes when you open your closet doors!
Even though I wanted them enough to splurge on them, I didn’t realize how much different they’d make my wardrobe feel. It feels like a mini boutique every time I get dressed. Wish I would have purchased these years ago. (And I wish I had a before picture–but I was just too excited to get rid of the old plastic and metal hangers.)
Since we’re talking about my closet, I’m happy to report that 9 months (?!) after throwing out 75% of my clothes, I still only own 41 pieces of clothing! I wasn’t going to be strict about the number unless I found myself battling the desire to buy clothes.
Thankfully, that never happened.
And I couldn’t be happier with the small amount of clothing. Wondering what to wear and unhappily staring at the wardrobe every morning is just a distant memory, and I don’t miss it at all.
Also, speaking of simplifying…my necklaces look like they could use some weeding out (believe it or not, I’ve already gone through them twice).
Wood hanger are definitely the best. I have them in my cupboard under the stairs… And now I want to change the ones in my bedroom!
I too threw out the plastic and wire hangers from our home, but gave in on the bulkier bigger plastic hangers for jackets that A insisted on keeping. Other than those they are all wood, but all are not alike, which I’d prefer.
The wood ones keep the clothes looking better too I think. I love the wallpaper or similar on the back of your cabinet.
The clothes do hang much better on the wood, that was an unexpected bonus. Thanks–I meant to write about that, but forgot. It’s just wrapping paper taped in place. I put it up because the wardrobe was so dark that it was hard to see the clothes, and the pink paper brightened it right up.
