As I learned immediately after accepting the dollhouse challenge last year, dollhousing can be a very expensive hobby.  In fact, I was really discouraged by the prices at first.  So I wanted to share with you some things you could do for a lot less money.  Everything listed below is under $35.  From two small houses to themes for room boxes that you could make out of shoeboxes or wine crates (both free!).  So here we go:

ITEMS YOU CAN PURCHASE:

2 room dollhouse kit, for under $25.

It has one room downstairs and a loft on top. How cute would this be as a shop or cafe downstairs and a studio apartment upstairs?

Here is a very similar one, only bigger with 4 rooms. It’s under $35.

You could do it up classic painted lady style as shown, or leave off the gingerbread trim and paint it modern colors.

How about a vintage travel trailer? Under $25.

This would be so cool as a food cart. Or a vacation camper. Or maybe a “van down by the river” type of place?

A pool table set for around $20.

A game room room box would be a fun project. Unless you don’t like games.  Or fun.

A dollhouse pool for under $15.

It would be so fun to take a make a pool house next to this.  A narrow shoebox on it’s side would be the perfect size, too.

Tall bookcases with moulding.  Under $20. How cute would a miniature library be?  Unlike many dollhouse bookshelves, these are almost 8” tall, so they would be almost ceiling height.

Full disclosure: Some of these products are affiliate links. If you purchase from these links, I could be compensated by Amazon (Woo hoo!! But NOT at any cost to you). I have not purchased the items featured, but I promise, I would only feature items that I would purchase. It comes down to this: either way, I was going to showcase items for you that could get you started on your dollhouse/mini project for under $35.
