thrift store bench makeover

This one I redid a while ago, but I never told you all about it.  Another one of my simple makeovers, this time for a $15(!) bench.  This one almost led to a wrestling match in the aisles of Goodwill as well.  (So many times, when I’m in Goodwill with all the competition other ladies, the seagulls from Finding Nemo come to mind and all I can hear is “Miiine, mine, mine.”)

Here was the beauty:

(Sorry about the stinky photography, I now understand: daylight is good, flash is bad.)  Lucky me, the fabric store is one block away from Goodwill, so whenever I find something that needs to be re-upholstered, I just head across the street.  And even luckier me, I found a remnant just the right size for under $5.  When I did this project, I had not yet planned our decorating scheme for the house, so any pretty, cheap fabric and the white paint I had at home would do until I picked a more permanent style for our house. 

And here she is today, sitting at our dining table:

A very cozy, even if temporary, seating arrangement.  (Let’s pretend that those curtains are actually finished, k?)  It was so quick and easy.  Unscrewed the seat, replaced the fabric and stapled it on, primed and painted the base, screwed the seat back on and done.  For under $20.
